1. Click Advanced Search below the search bar
2. Navigate to the Legal search, select a category from the menu on the left, and enter your search terms
3. Choose a field in which to search for your terms.
After you've selected your Advanced Search categories (i.e. Legal > Cases > United States Cases), a Search Field Examples image will appear on the right. Click on it to see which part of a document each field applies to. Here is an example of search fields for cases:
Shepard's U.S. Citations is an index used to track when and how cases are cited by other sources. To shepardize a case means to use Shepard's to get a report of the cases, statutes, secondary sources, and annotations that cite the case being researched. Since 1999, NexisUni has provided users with an online Shepard's Report tool that tracks citations in a single click - just view a document and click Shepardize this document from the menu on the right.
