Armacost Library Policies

Use the links below or use the tabs above to navigate.

Welcome

Current students, faculty and staff at the University of Redlands, alumni, and guests are all invited to use and visit the Armacost Library. We encourage you to learn more about the library and it's staff, and hope that our policies answer any questions you may have. All policies apply to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors of the Armacost Library building.

General Policies

May I eat and drink in the library?

Covered drinks are welcome, and we ask that all food is eaten either before entering the 2nd floor entrance to the library or just within the atrium at the front entrance.

What about cell phones?

Due to the architecture and acoustics of the Armacost Library, sound travels easily. With respect for fellow library users, please set your cell phone to silent or vibrate, and use the atrium at the front entrance for all of your cell phone conversations.

How do I use one of your computer desktops?

All desktops come with an internet connection, are available on every floor, are hooked up to a printer, and require a login. Current students, staff, and faculty may use their myRedlands username and password to login; everyone else must be logged in as a guest by a member of the library staff. Typically, there is an ample number of computers, but during times of high-use priority may be given to current members of the University of Redlands community, and guest use of computers may be limited to 30 minutes.

May I bring my own computer and access your wi-fi?

Anyone with a current myRedlands username and password may access the University's wireless network.

Are children welcome in the library?

For the safety and learning needs of all users, minors must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver at all times with the following exception: high school students are welcome to use the Armacost Library for academic purposes.

May I use the library's fax machine?

Since the library fax machine is for official library use, we encourage you to use the public scanner which is located by the 2nd floor printer. As an alternative, you may use the fax machine in Hospitality Services which is located in the Hunsaker Center, for a small fee.
