Information Literacy & Library Instruction: Instruction Options and Request Form

About the Menu

The Library Instruction Menu is inspired by the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Framework for Information Literacy. Designed to grow and adapt, this menu is a living resource highlighting some but not all of the ways librarians can collaborate with you. Research sessions are built on core concepts of information literacy, meeting students where they are in their journey through today’s dynamic and ever-evolving information landscape. Essential research skills are woven into the sessions so that students can apply what they learn and take on research assignments with clarity and purpose. Multiple sessions are encouraged in order to meet student needs as they coincide with course expectations. Sessions are best scheduled soon after students have selected their research topics.

Why Concepts?

We've all heard the snarky phrase, "Take a picture, it'll last longer." But the same goes for concepts. Humans retain more information when that information is closely tied to concepts. While skills are often a part of the learning process, focusing on the reasons why, provides a more lasting impact.
