The University of Redlands First Year Student Research Practices Survey was partly adapted (questions # 4-9) from HEDS/NITLE Research Practices Survey. The remainder of the survey (questions #1-2, 10-14) were developed in-house by the Armacost Library faculty librarians.
The Fall 2014 version of the First Year Student Research Practices Survey has been revised from the first year, Fall 2013, with five fewer questions to enable more manageable and sustainable administration and analysis.
The original HEDS/NITLE Research Practices Survey instrument was developed between 2004 and 2007 by the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education (NITLE) and Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS), a consortium of 10 selective liberal arts colleges. The 2007 HEDS/NITLE survey was licensed under the Creative Commons.
